Internal Medicine Club

 

About: The Internal Medicine Club (IMC) aims to expose students to the practice of internal medicine alongside the various sub-specialties it encompasses. This organization acts as an educational resource to members by providing career guidance, hosting guest lecturers, and conducting clinical skills seminars. One of the goals of the organization is to aid in familiarizing students with the general field of Internal Medicine and its many medical subspecialties in order to provide better insight into what career students wish to pursue. By learning about several training career paths offered through internal medicine, it is hoped that students will be aided in thinking about future career goals.

LGBTQ+ Club

 

The LGBTQ+ Club is a student-run club that works to promote equality for and give a voice to LGBTQIA+ individuals of Saba and SUSOM. In previous semesters, the club hosted a movie night and a Pride Tie-Dye Party on campus to celebrate inclusiveness. In the future we would like to expand our efforts to involve the Saba community. In particular, we are working closely with Body Mind Spirit to establish an informal counseling service for LGBTQIA+ youth on Saba.

About: The Muslim Students Association at SABA University School of Medicine aims to foster understanding about Islam among the Saba community as well as to assist Muslim students with their practice of Islam, ie. About: The mission of SIGN is to gain experience and knowledge from current neurological residents, researchers, physicians, and professors. As future physicians, we plan on utilizing our club as a way to prepare for neurological clinical rotations and residency. About: World Health Initiative (WHI) is a group led by students who are passionate about international medical relief. About: Outdoor Track and Trails Club is created for students who love the outdoors, hikers, runners, or anyone who wants to explore nature. It is a group that promotes the importance of self-care and well-being by connecting to other students who love to hike or run while managing the rigor of medical school. The goal is to get outside and explore Saba's beautiful trails during the weekend. Besides the campus and in the future, the club hopes to connect and coordinate with the local community in promoting a healthy lifestyle by giving back and organizing fun events.

About: Founded in 2013, our mission is to support & facilitate both current students & graduates of the Saba University School of Medicine throughout their medical training & careers. As the fastest-growing group at SUSOM, we are working hard to spread our reach on Saba and all across North America. Our events, which include visits from SUSOM Alumni, Specialty Presentations, as well as partnering students with SUSOM Alumni mentors practicing medicine in their interested specialties, all intend to facilitate & enhance your experiences while on Saba in learning about the resources & opportunities SUSOM can afford you moving forward through every stage of your medical career. This semester, we are hoping to host a diabetic foot care clinic. We hope to help you reach your destination & desired career as best as we can, and we are always looking to gain more student involved in this student-focused but student-driven group. 

  

 

Saba Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) (not active)

 

About: Saba EMIG would strive to create an environment of information learning and sharing for those with an interest in Emergency Medicine. Students with this interest are often left with large learning gaps pertaining to the specifics of being a competitive EM applicant, and information is often dispersed via word-of-mouth. This group would provide an official forum for discussion, learning, and mentorship for students in all stages of their medical school journey.
